How Effective Is The Opening Of The Kite Runner?

Personally, I think the break of The Kite Runner is really effective. From the one and a half pages of the first chapter the indorser does not only want to read on to satisfy an randy whiz of curiosity, but have a clear cortical potential into the tone of the novel, its main characters and its central themes.
The story is one base on moral conscience, consequence and redemption; the writer develops these themes by dint of the main character amir. As a young boy, Amir witnesses a boy raping his friend Hassan but fails to do eitherthing. It becomes a defining moment in his life and one that haunts his conscience for many years. Hosseini makes a reference to this event in the opening paragraph, identifying it as approximatelything which made Amir what [he is] today but the endorser remains in the dark of what actually happened in the overwinter of 1975.
Instead, the writer uses imagery of Amir peering down an alleyway so that immediately the reader guesses possible answers. His descriptions here also let us know that the event was very sinister and thus that the effect it had on the main character was very negative.
Hosseini goes on in the same paragraph to first mention the kind impact this has had on the Narrator, who remains unnamed.

Rahim Khan is the first name the reader is introduced to and Hosseini goes on, later in the novel, to develop into a very important character despite the little he is involved in its majority. The reader now associates Rahim Khan with the consequences of what Amir did, therefore concentrates any input of the character later on. I think this is very tactful as the writer uses the dialogue of Rahim to voice some of his most critical messages.
