1) LESSON I: A glimpse into history: how the Egyptian youth succeeded to initiate positive change in their community.

- Boost students’ knowledge about historical figures who were able to actively initiate positive change in their community.
- Stimulate students to find about the current negative conditions existing in their country

Learning outcomes: students will be able to
- Identify Egyptian figures whose call remain in history for their active participation in the society.
- Learn about the political and stinting conditions they grew up in, their struggles and motivations, and the educational and physical resources they had access to.
- Compare and contrast the above issues with those in the present time.
- Outline the general characteristics and skills shared by the historical figures that were important for their contributions.

Anticipatory set: The set will be a brief discussion about the 1919 revolution against the British occupation Egypt. This will include reasons behind this revolution, and the trigger that caused it to blow over at that time.



Through this discussion students will be introduced to how non-violent gist can be used to successfully obtain political rights. It will enforce the concept of how young students can actively take part in initiating positive changes in their communities habituated that they must be aware of their surrounding conditions.

Presentation: A power point slide show will be displayed, accompanied by teacher comments and explanations. The slides will contain pictures of volt historical figures (Kassem Amin, Mustafa Kamel, Taha Hussein, Nabaweyya Moussa and Sayyed Darwish), information of how these figures grew up (education and income level, family status), their surrounding political and economic conditions, and a list of their accomplishments.
