Personal Reflection
As my first base semester at Moody Bible Institute comes to a fast end, I cannot help but to reflect oh how much I have absorbed in such a unforesightful time. Ive grasped the agreement and truth of theologies, doctrines, developments, relationships, and thus far a new understanding of myself.
The truth is, I am going to school to be an addictions counselor, but why? Because I have seen and felt the vacuum that consumes an individual to the point of filling that void with something other than the sanctified Spirit. As humans, we naturally crave and need something, or individual to hold on to; for love, trust, security, and hope. For the infant it is the gentle touch of a mother that drives out all fear. For the junior high savant it is their Hollister or Abercrombie clothes which affirms their acceptance; the high school-er needs their rank which saltations them their strength and obvious identity. For example, depressives and addicts often dont realize or even admit the truth of needing help, solely because of the negative connotation that accompanies the newsworthiness need. Nonetheless, the truth is, they take over need that something or someone to give them hope for recovery and a change of heart and mind.
Those among us suffering the most need a savior to harbor them and guide them. But what breaks my heart is what they dont realize, their savior is my Savior, who died and rose once again and gives me the breath of life each day. While at MBI, I am continuously reminded of these truths of our God and his almighty and wondrous power. However, what MBI has failed to do, is full establish the search for truth within ourselves.
Finding these truths has been a process of confusion that I believe will neer end. Even though my search for my internal truth has precisely begun with a simple letter of encouragement from my father a mere 3 months ago; I can still retrace my journey to high school.
