Adam Smith is the most famous economist in history. He argued that g all overnment should allow free trade, that is, businesses should be allowed to influence without many restrictions. He argued against the controlling policies and eminent tariffs of mercantilism. So to put it simply: If businesses are allowed to operate freely, peoples greed and competition will create a high quality product at a low price and the supply of a product will meet the needs of the people.
